2degrees acquires MyRepublic New Zealand broadband customers
Jul 5, 2023

2degrees today announced that it is acquiring the MyRepublic New Zealand broadband base.

2degrees, one of the leading New Zealand telecommunications providers, has today announced its acquisition of the MyRepublic New Zealand broadband base, as MyRepublic exits the New Zealand broadband market. The company is committed to ensuring a seamless transition for MyRepublic customers and will provide ongoing support and uninterrupted services during the migration process.

Preparations for the customer migration to 2degrees will commence in the coming weeks, with regular communication to keep customers fully informed throughout the transition. Mark Callander, CEO of 2degrees, expressed confidence in providing MyRepublic customers with a positive experience at their new home.

“We believe MyRepublic customers will be very happy with the service and look forward to welcoming them to 2degrees. The companies share a similar challenger ethos, a focus on customer service, and have been at the forefront of delivering fibre and Hyperfibre services in New Zealand for many years.”

With MyRepublic having already communicated the change to its customers, the migrations to 2degrees will take place over a two-month period starting in August. Callander emphasized that customer satisfaction remains a top priority for 2degrees, and the company is dedicated to making the transfer process as smooth as possible.

“This acquisition aligns with our overall growth strategy as we continue to be one of the leading challenger brands in the market. We have been working closely with MyRepublic to ensure a seamless transition for customers and prioritize uninterrupted service delivery.”

Malcolm Rodrigues, Group CEO and co-founder of MyRepublic, expressed gratitude for the support received from customers in New Zealand over the years. He highlighted the decision to exit the New Zealand broadband market after almost nine successful years, citing a renewed focus on the company's Singaporean business.

“I love our New Zealand business. The amazing work that the team has done for MyRepublic over nearly nine years has been a personal point of pride for me, with a number of industry firsts to shake up the NZ broadband market. After much deliberation, however, we have decided to focus on our Singaporean business. We are thankful for all the support our customers in New Zealand have shown us. With 2degrees’ network infrastructure and scale of operations, we are confident that customers transitioning will be in good hands.”

2degrees remains committed to delivering exceptional telecommunications services and looks forward to welcoming MyRepublic customers to their network. The acquisition represents an exciting opportunity for growth and innovation in the New Zealand broadband market.
