From 30 July 2025, 2degrees customers will see their monthly broadband bill go up. If you're on an Unlimited or Ultimate Unlimited fibre plan, expect to pay $4 more per month.

So, what’s going on, and what can you do about it? Let’s break it down.

How much is the 2degrees price increase?

From 30 July 2025, 2degrees will raise the price of its standard broadband plans by $4 per month. This includes most fixed-line plans, such as fibre and copper connections. Wireless broadband users are not affected.

If you’re bundling with a discount (like SuperGold or a mobile combo), your price may stay the same but it’s best to check your account or get in touch with 2degrees directly to confirm.

Why are broadband prices rising?

According to 2degrees, the increase is due to higher network and operating costs. Rising inflation and infrastructure demands across the industry are pushing providers to adjust pricing just to maintain service levels.

2degrees isn’t alone. Spark and Skinny have also announced price increases. The cost of building and maintaining New Zealand’s broadband infrastructure is climbing, and ISPs are passing on some of those costs to customers.

What are your options?

You don’t have to accept the increase. If you’re unhappy with the change, 2degrees allows customers (even those on a fixed-term contract) to cancel their broadband service within 30 days of receiving the price change notice, without paying early termination fees.

That means now is a great time to shop around. There are still fibre plans out there starting from under $60/month, and many providers offer sign-up deals, free routers, or joining credits.

Don't pay more than you need to

Price increases are frustrating, but they’re also a chance to check if you're getting the best value.
