Beat the Mercury Broadband Price Increase with Broadband Compare

Mercury Broadband Prices Are Increasing from April 1 2026 - What You Need to Know!

If you’re a Mercury broadband customer, it’s likely you’ll notice a change to your monthly bill from 1 April 2026. Mercury has issued communications to customers advising that wholesale broadband costs and retail service charges are being updated, and that this will be reflected in your pricing going forward.

(Check your inbox or the Mercury website if you haven’t received an email yet.)

Why Are Broadband Prices Going Up?

Mercury says broadband pricing reflects the underlying costs of running and supporting your service, including wholesale network charges from infrastructure providers like Chorus, Enable, Northpower and others, as well as retail operating costs. Prices are adjusted from time to time to cover those changes and ensure the continued delivery of reliable broadband.

This all means some Mercury broadband plans - including popular unlimited fibre options - will cost more per month once the new prices take effect from April 1st 2026.

One customer report suggests, for example, that FibreMax plans may increase by around $4 per month to around $115, although the exact amount depends on your plan and whether prices have already been locked in under a fixed-term deal.  We have seen another email to a customer which is seeing a price increase of $8 a month!  that's almost $100 a year for the exact same product!

Mercury has 150,000 fibre broadband customers according to their website.  So with an average price increase of $6 a month, this Mercury Broadband price increase is going to be costing customers OVER $10 MILLION extra each year if you do nothing about it!

Are you a Mercury Broadband customer?  What This Means for You

If you’re currently on a Mercury broadband plan, you should have received (or may receive) an email or letter from Mercury explaining:

  1. The new monthly prices that apply from 1 April 2026
  2. What happens when your existing pricing term ends
  3. Options for support or plans that might suit your household

Because pricing changes can vary by plan and by whether you’re on a fixed-term versus open-term contract, it’s worth reviewing that email carefully and checking your plan details in your Mercury account.

...and if you haven’t received a price notice yet, keep an eye on your inbox - companies are required to give advance notice of pricing updates, so it should be coming soon if it hasn’t already.

Why accept a Mercury broadband price increase when switching fibre broadband provider is so easy?

Switching fibre provider is typically incredibly smooth when:

1. You’re already on fibre

2. You don’t change speed tiers dramatically

3. You don’t cancel your old provider before the new one confirms activation

4. You have access to your ONT (the white fibre box attached to your wall) and router

In many cases, it’s literally:

1. Sign up with new provider

2. They schedule transfer date

3. Service transfers over

4. Plug in new router or change a couple of settings on your old router

Done.  $60 a year saved.  PLEASE TAKE ACTION!
